Royal Botanical Gardens - Aboretum

16 Old Guelph Rd Hamilton, ON L0R 2H9

Another treat for your senses (especially your sense of smell) in late spring is the Lilac Dell at the RBG Arboretum. It’s a huge collection of lilacs, in shades of white, purple and pink, filling a valley with heavenly scent. Take a walk down the hillside (breathing deeply), or follow a path along the top to take in the flowering dogwood and redbud. The crabapple trees are also in bloom at this time. The arboretum has specimens of many other trees and shrubs, which might help you decide what to plant in your own garden. There are washrooms on site and lots of benches where you can relax and enjoy the views (and smells!).
