Niagara-on-the-Lake has a well-deserved reputation for being one of the most picturesque towns in Canada. I recently spent an afternoon there wandering around, enjoying the floral displays and soaking up the atmosphere. If you go for a visit, you can take in a performance at one of the Shaw Festival’s four theatres (buy tickets in advance), do some shopping on Queen St. and maybe enjoy a meal at a restaurant or pub. Don’t forget to visit the park by the lake, which is great for picnics in good weather. If you have time, pick up some fresh produce to take home from one of the roadside vendors just outside the town.
