Terra Cotta Conservation Area

14452 Winston Churchill Boulevard, Halton Hills, ON L0P 1N0

We visited this lovely conservation area for the first time in early May. The trails take you through woodland and around a small lake and several smaller ponds. The one that we took was compacted dirt and very easy going even for my parents who are in their senior years. The Bruce Trail runs through the conservation area too, and you can take a trail that connects to Silver Creek Conservation Area. On our visit the tree tops were alive with small birds chasing the flies over the shore of the lake and the forest floor rustled with chipmunks and squirrels. Triliums and other wild flowers were blooming all around. There are facilites you can rent for special occasions and in their brocure they say that you can rent skis and snowshoes to use the trails in the winter. There are nice washrooms at the visitor centre (always a big plus in my books!). I hope to go back in the fall because I’m sure the colours will be spectacular there.
