Rockwood Conservation Area

161 Fall Street Rockwood, ON N0B 2K0

Rockwood is a really pretty spot for a day trip. The river and lake area with high, rocky cliffs and islands dotted here and there can be explored by canoe or kayak, which are available to rent, or you can just hang out on the beach (or in the water if it’s a nice day for a swim). There are a few trails to hike as well, one featuring potholes carved out of the former riverbed by the force of the water swirling stones around in its current. Another trail takes you to some caves, and another to a high-up lookout. The ruins of an old mill are a great backdrop for pictures (popular with wedding photographers).
