Royal Botanical Gardens - Hendrie Park

1104 Plains Rd W Burlington, ON L7T 1H3

The Royal Botanical Gardens’ Hendrie Park is just gorgeous. I could spend a whole day there with my camera, wandering from one section to another because at every turn there’s a fresh treat for the eye. It’s got water features, fountains, pergolas, formal hedges, flowering trees and shrubs, perennial borders, and many other things to remind you of how much work your own garden needs. My favourite time to visit is when the rose gardens are in full bloom. The smell is heavenly (especially for a farm girl used to the scent of manure). Across from Hendrie Park, the main RBG building has good washrooms and also a really nice gift shop (lots of gardening books, jewelry, and other treasures). There is much, much more than I’ve described here, but you just have to go check it out for yourself.
